Who we are

Gateforth One is a commercial energy consultancy. We are the data controller responsible for the personal information described in this notice.

Information we collect

This is a brochure website. We do not ask you to create an account, and we collect only the information you choose to give us. When you complete our contact form we collect:

• Your name: so we know who we are corresponding with.
• Your company: the business the review would relate to.
• Your work email address: so we can reply to your request.
• Number of sites: an indication of the scale of your estate.
• Approximate annual energy spend: a range to help us scope the review.
• Any message: optional details you add about your sites, bills or supplier quotes.

We do not intentionally collect any special category data through this website.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide only to:

• respond to your enquiry and arrange your commercial review;
• scope and price the review you have asked us to consider;
• communicate with you about our services where you have asked us to; and
• comply with any legal obligation that applies to us.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not send unsolicited marketing without your consent.

Legal basis

Under the UK GDPR, we rely on the following lawful bases:

• Steps prior to a contract: to respond to your request and scope a review you have asked us to consider.
• Legitimate interests: to run and improve our consultancy and keep records of enquiries.
• Consent: where you have opted in to hear from us, which you can withdraw at any time.
• Legal obligation: where we must keep certain records to comply with the law.

Who we share it with

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share it only where necessary:

• with trusted service providers who host our website, email and IT systems;
• with our professional advisers where reasonably required; and
• where required to do so by law or a valid legal request.

Where any provider processes data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

How long we keep it

If your enquiry does not lead to an engagement, we typically hold your contact details for up to 24 months and then delete them. Where we go on to work with you, we retain records for as long as the engagement is active and for the period required by law afterwards, generally up to six years.

This website uses only the cookies strictly necessary to make it work and to keep it secure. We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the site is used.
